And thus while I was blogging, a potato, set on the baked potato setting of my microwave, was busily cooking. And I was busily blogging. And it was thus so, until the thought came into my mind that perhaps thus spoken potato seemed to be cooking a bit too long. Not too worry, thought I, for there is a sensor on the microwave and it will shut off at just the right time for the potato and I will therefore have a delicious tuber in which to enjoy in a few minutes.
But I should have heeded that thought, for that thought did not come from me, but a higher power, warning me of pending doom. Suddenly, a loud thump and a sound I had never heard from a microwave before got my attention and I turned to discover flames pouring out of my microwave! The potato was on fire. The food destroyed, the plate it was on, destroyed, and I am too fearful to dare try the microwave to discover if it, too, is destroyed after throwing a glass of water on the burning spud. Alas, the lesson learned, if you are prompted to check on something, do not hesitate, for he that hesitates may end up with this:
And I, the blogger, still hungry, wonder at the soot that remains on the inside of the microwave and how to get it off and the smoke that permeates the house and wonder at how to stop the smoke alarm and I know that promptings are very, very important.
And I, the blogger, still hungry, wonder at the soot that remains on the inside of the microwave and how to get it off and the smoke that permeates the house and wonder at how to stop the smoke alarm and I know that promptings are very, very important.
That was a great parable! I love it!
ReplyDeleteBWHAHAHAHA! Looks appetizing! :) I remember the time Jordan put a corn dog in the microwave for 9 minutes -- UGH! Talk about an awful smell....and for weeks! :( But, you wanted new plates anyway, right? :)
ReplyDeleteOk, Patty, after laughing "with" you at the lovely and "delicious" looking tater, you made a very wise point with your experience. One that I don't always take to heart, and thus have a few "burnt potatoes" in my life!! How are you doing by the way? We need to get together! I hardly ever see or even talk to Susan anymore. We need to schedule a get together! Let's do lunch! That's the solution to everything!!! Or, this Friday, I am a scouter's widow, so if you want to go do a chic flick or something??!!! Let me know!!
