Brandon is a junior this year, at a new high school, or rather, it was new last year when he was a sophomore. At the time, the school only had freshmen and sophomores. This year those kids moved up and a new batch of freshmen arrived. Next year, Brandon will be the first graduating class turned out by that school.
And that is one of the many reasons Brandon decided to transfer to this new school. He will get to be the first in a lot of things. Last year, as a JV football player, he was the first to score a touchdown on their home field!
This year he is part of the first season to have a varsity team.
It has been pretty exciting, even if we have already experienced a concussion with him this season. I sure don't like messing with the brain!
Game day requires the players to dress up..............
They had their first game this past Friday, August 26. The day started off with Channel 3 news doing a big pep assembly in the morning to get the school fired up and ready for their very first varsity game. There were several features of the school on the morning show, which lasted about 3 hours Friday morning. Brandon even got to do a backflip for the camera and the news reporter called him "Backflip Brandon". It was an excellent tuck, I might add.
That evening the game began.
That is my boy, number 45.
He was almost hidden behind the tuba but he is there!
Go Brandon!
So, yeah, they lost the game but Brandon scored the second touchdown of the two they scored that night. Not too shabby, scoring two touchdowns as a new team with no seniors on it, playing a well seasoned team.
Way to go Campo Verde Coyotes!
