Today in testimony meeting I heard many uplifting and inspiring testimonies.
But there was one story today that struck me in its wonderful analogy. This brother in our ward talked about a flight he made back to Phoenix from some other destination. As the plane was in the landing mode, and this brother saw dark ominous clouds hovering over the the city, 30 seconds from touching down the plane suddenly swooped back into the air and flew his passengers to Tucson.
At the airport awaited his son, to pick him up in Phoenix.
He compared this story to that of our lives. He said that we can be going along in our lives, doing things right, but if we are not doing everything we can do, if we have a few dark clouds in our way, our course can be changed in mere seconds, taking us from our planned destination and we find ourself arriving in a place where our family can no longer meet us.
It was a good reminder that our promise of eternal families requires effort on our part as well.
We cannot let the dark clouds of trouble and life de-rail our destination and take us off course.
None of us knows how long we have on this earth. We only know we must make the best of the time we have. Some of us have warning of our life's end and others do not. Nonetheless, we all have the same goals, to have our family with us at that final destination. So we must stay the course and withstand the blowing of the wind and pounding of the waves against our very souls.
And if we do, there we will find those we love.
